Playing the Scales
Begin with your pinky on the third fret of the A (highest) string.

Playing the melodic “Who knows, not me” notes
Just before and during the scale section, you can optionally play the tab below to mimic the vocal melody. This is tricky do along with the scales, but with practice you can make it happen. Note, you’ll have to abandon the C scale a bit early to get in position for the “Not me” melodic notes. Also, you’ll want to play the “not me” 5th frets notes with your index finger, which you should barre upon the 5th string.

You can optionally use an advanced finger picking approach, where your thumb is plucking the lowest string for each note of the scale. This adds some nice fullness. For the F-scale below, note how I’m changing the bass note that’s plucked as I work up the scale. This is to avoid some of the dissonant notes that would sound if you stayed on the low G string.
